Biography

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas, is a globally recognized American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B group Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups in history. After the group disbanded, she launched a highly successful solo career.

Early Life and Destiny's Child

From a young age, Beyoncé showed a passion for music and performing. In 1990, she joined a girl group called Girl's Tyme with her childhood friends, including Kelly Rowland. After an unsuccessful appearance on the television show Star Search, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles, became their manager and pushed the group to work harder. In 1997, the group, now named Destiny's Child, signed with Columbia Records. They released their self-titled debut album in 1998, but it was their second album, "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999), that brought them mainstream success with hits like "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name". Their third album, "Survivor" (2001), continued their success with singles "Independent Women Part I" and the title track "Survivor."

Solo Career

Beyoncé's solo career began with the release of her debut album, "Dangerously in Love," in 2003. The album was a massive success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and featuring the hit singles "Crazy in Love" featuring Jay-Z, and "Baby Boy". She has since released several critically and commercially successful albums, including "B'Day" (2006), "I Am... Sasha Fierce" (2008), "4" (2011), and the surprise visual album "Beyoncé" (2013). In 2016, she released the critically acclaimed visual album "Lemonade," which became the world's best-selling album of that year. Her subsequent albums, the dance-inspired "Renaissance" (2022) and the country-infused "Cowboy Carter" (2024), have further showcased her artistic versatility.

Major Achievements and Awards

Throughout her career, Beyoncé has sold over 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She holds the record for the most Grammy Awards won by any artist, with a total of 35 wins. She is also the most-awarded artist at the BET Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards. In 2014, she received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. All eight of her solo studio albums have debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
