Biography

Benson James Boone, born on June 25, 2002, in Monroe, Washington, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He grew up with four sisters. Before his music career, Boone was a competitive diver at Monroe High School. He discovered his vocal talent during his junior year when a friend asked him to sing and play the piano for a battle of the bands. After graduating in 2020, he briefly attended Brigham Young University–Idaho for one semester before deciding to focus on music.

Career Beginnings and American Idol

Boone's musical journey gained significant momentum after he started posting singing videos on TikTok, where he quickly amassed a large following. In early 2021, he auditioned for the 19th season of American Idol, impressing the judges and earning a golden ticket to Hollywood Week. Despite being a favorite to win, with Katy Perry predicting his victory, Boone voluntarily withdrew from the competition after making it to the Top 24. He later explained that he wanted to build his career based on his own music rather than the "American Idol" label.

Rise to Fame and Major Releases

After leaving the show, Boone caught the attention of Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds, who signed him to his label, Night Street Records, in partnership with Warner Records. His debut single, "Ghost Town," was released in October 2021 and became a commercial success, charting in multiple countries. This was followed by other successful singles, including "In the Stars."

Boone's career reached new heights in 2024 with the release of his single "Beautiful Things." The song became a global sensation, topping charts in numerous countries and reaching number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. His debut studio album, "Fireworks & Rollerblades," was released in April 2024 and peaked at number six on the US Billboard 200. The album showcases his versatile style, blending pop, rock, and soulful ballads.

Recent Work

In 2025, Boone released his second studio album, "American Heart," which was preceded by the single "Mystical Magical." He continues to engage with his audience through social media and has performed at major events like Coachella. His achievements include a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
